Roofing Shingles We Install
Tulsa, Broken Arrow & Northeast Oklahoma
Every shingle below is one our 12-year crew installs to the manufacturer's warranty spec. Specs come straight from GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed and TAMKO's own published pages, not sales sheets. Filter by what matters in Oklahoma: hail rating first, then look, then budget.
How to choose a shingle in hail country
1. Impact rating. UL 2218 Class 4 (2-inch steel ball from 20 ft) is the top rating and what insurers look for. Class 3 (1.75-inch ball) is a reasonable middle. 3-tab shingles carry no impact rating. 2. Wind warranty. Oklahoma spring storms routinely exceed the 60 mph rating on 3-tab shingles; architectural lines are rated 110 to 160 mph, and GAF's LayerLock shingles have no maximum wind-speed limit under WindProven™. 3. Algae protection. Humid Oklahoma summers streak roofs; 25- to 30-year algae warranties are now standard on premium lines. 4. Look and color. Try it on your own house with the Roof Visualizer, then hold the sample board against your brick.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best shingle for Oklahoma hail?
A UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistant shingle. Class 4 means the shingle survived a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet without cracking. Our most-installed Class 4 lines are GAF Timberline AS II, Owens Corning Duration FLEX, CertainTeed Landmark ClimateFlex and TAMKO StormFighter IR.
Do Class 4 shingles lower insurance premiums in Oklahoma?
Many Oklahoma insurers offer a premium credit for Class 4 roofs, but the amount and eligibility vary by carrier and policy. Ask your agent before you choose a shingle; we note the product and rating on your invoice so you can submit it.
Architectural vs. 3-tab shingles: what is the difference?
Architectural (laminated) shingles are two or more layers bonded together, heavier, with lifetime limited warranties and 110 to 130 mph wind ratings. 3-tab shingles are a single flat layer with 25-year warranties and 60 mph wind ratings. In Oklahoma wind we recommend architectural on any primary residence.
What is the difference between GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed?
All three make excellent architectural and Class 4 shingles. GAF's Timberline HDZ is the best-selling shingle in America and GAF offers a no-maximum-wind-speed warranty with its LayerLock system. Owens Corning's SureNail strip gives a very forgiving nailing zone. CertainTeed has the deepest designer and luxury lineup. Maxx Roofing is a GAF Certified Plus contractor and installs all four brands on this page.
My shingle is discontinued. Will insurance replace the whole roof?
It depends on your policy's matching language. We document the discontinuation with manufacturer evidence, photograph every slope and submit it with the claim. See the discontinued shingle pages on this site for the specific product on your roof.
How do I see a shingle color on my own house?
Use the Maxx Roof Visualizer on our homepage: upload a photo of your home, choose a shingle line and color, and it renders on your roof. Then we bring the physical sample board to your free inspection.
